Congratulations to all of our athletes at area games.  We had 16 new team records at area games and I will have our team record board at the YMCA Aquatic Center updated by Tuesday.  Current new records are already on the team web site.  Looking forward to our party on Saturday Sept 13th click on the schedule for times.

Congratulation to Chris Meyer who completed Lucky's Lake Swim and became the 9th team member to sign the Wall of Fame!!!

There is currently a move within the team to not take our swimmers to State Meet in order to gain some attention to the problem of leaving so many team members at home.  This is a parent conceived idea and parent driven.  The coaches are removing themselves from and not taking part in any of the parent discussions.  Coaches Lucky and Larry have agreed to go along with whatever the team decides.  Should the parents decide not to have their athletes attend State the coaches doubt the absence of 16 to 18 swimmers will have much of an impact on the overall meet or receive much attention.  We believe unless it is followed by letters to all the board members of Special Olympics Florida why it was done it would be a useless gesture. There are other avenues to approach Special Olympics and Coaches Lucky and Larry have had a recent meeting with Laurie who was going to be pitching some ideas for changes in the state swim meet.  Should the team decide to stay in Orlando we will try to arrange a team time trial at the YMCA aquatic center and then do a fun activity afterwards.  The parents need to let the coaches know as soon as possible what they are planning on doing.

Coach Apryl is planning on taking three swimmers from her group to state and I have spoken with one parent that plans on taking their athlete as well.  Coaches Lucky and Larry are fine with this and continue to take a no position stand.  We hope whatever position athletes and parents decide to take regarding State Meet that everyone remains respectful of each others decisions.  Whether you attend or not we will are still a team and hopefully we can rally together for a meaningful change.
